ON THEIR TERMS

We commit to:

  • Acknowledging our many privileges as cis-gender, white women.

  • Always trusting you, your lived experience, and what you feel is right for your body.

  • Listening to and honoring your story.

  • Holding space for the wide range of your emotions and parts of you that feel present throughout our work together.

  • Asking for your consent as we navigate where, when, and if you’re ready to be pushed.

  • Upholding our relationship as the most important part of this process. And doing the hard work to repair it, strengthen it, and respect it at all times.

  • Sharing parts of ourselves and our experiences as humans, who also live in a culture steeped in disordered eating, when you provide consent for us to do so.

  • Relentlessly advocating for the inclusion and equality of all bodies.

What we want you to know…

  • We are a group of fat-positive, non-diet professionals.

  • Your personal trauma(s) and suffering cannot be compared to anyone else’s. You deserve to feel better. You deserve peace.

  • Our work is firmly rooted in the health at every size movement and we draw from principles of Intuitive Eating and Body Trust®.

  • We are trauma-informed therapists and believe that to live in a body, especially a marginalized body, in an eating-disordered culture, is inherently traumatic.

  • Dieting is ineffective for 95% of people, is linked to low self-worth, increased anxiety, and depression, and is the greatest predictor for developing an eating disorder.

  • Our dieting-obsessed culture will continue to feed off your insecurities, assuring you and trying to hook you into the belief that the solution to your problems is weight loss. Simply perpetuating the cycle you know all too well.

We also want you to know…

  • Continuing to focus on your weight, remaining steeped in your eating disorder and dieting cycles, only pulls you out of the life you crave and undeniably deserve.

  • It’s not your fault.

  • It is not your fault.

  • It’s not your fault.

  • Healing is possible.

We believe:

  • That all bodies are worthy of being liberated from oppression.

  • All bodies are worthy of kindness, access, care, compassion, and acceptance.

  • In fact, all bodies deserve to feel safe in the world.

  • All bodies are worthy of living free from shame and external methods of control- regardless of their shape, size or color, or gender identification.

We’re here to support you to Reclaim YOU from the impact of trauma, disordered eating, diet culture and body shame.

Here at Reclaim Therapy, we specialize in providing trauma therapy, treating body image issues, binge eating therapy, eating disorder treatment, and providing EMDR Therapy in Horsham, PA.
