Trauma & Complex PTSD Treatment, Eating Disorder Therapy & Body Image Support

Abby Albright provides trauma therapy in Pennsylvania and is an eating disorder therapist at Reclaim Therapy

Hi there! My name is Abby Albright.

I believe that radical healing can happen through relationships, especially through the therapeutic relationship.

I believe that all bodies are worthy of love, respect, and deep care.

I specialize in working with sensitive, self-identified perfectionists who have experienced trauma, are struggling with eating disorders and/or body image. I also specialize in working with adult children of alcoholics.

Looking for eating disorder, body image and trauma treatment in Pennsylvania can be anxiety provoking.

There are so many options and it feels so important to find the perfect fit. At times it can feel much easier to give up looking for the support you deserve because of the possibility of being let down.

But, you’re determined.

You’re resilient.

Deep down you know you deserve to feel the empathy that you so freely extend to the people in your life.

→I recognize that you are the expert of your life and it is my goal to support you in developing a stronger relationship with your intuition.

→I also recognize that I bring expertise to the table and can offer concrete strategies, tools, and techniques if it is helpful in the process of deepening your intuition. I often incorporate the wisdom of the body into my work with clients, enjoy practicing mindfulness and including somatic work.

To be fully seen and heard with unconditional care is a rarity.

That’s why these relationships are so unique and special. To be able to share so much of yourself with an individual who is on the outside of your day-to-day can be transformational.

While I believe the therapeutic relationship, in and of itself, can be profoundly healing, I also recognize how supportive it is to learn concrete strategies and tools to practice on a daily basis.

My hope is to offer you a supportive and safe relationship to explore your past, your desires, your triggers and your goals while practicing new and familiar strategies that will help you move through behaviors and self-beliefs that aren’t serving you anymore.

I want you to know that you are worthy of joy, authenticity, and connection in this present moment.

And that healing and recovery from trauma and disordered eating is not only possible, it’s radically life giving.

Here’s what feels important for you to know about me:

I’m a collaborative therapist who believes in, and witnesses everyday, each of my client’s inner wisdom.

  • That our bodies store trauma, memories, and past wounding. That our society reduces our bodies to shape, size, weight, color, etc. - sending the message that only some are worthy of love, respect, and deep care and that we need to work endlessly to change our bodies to fit these standards.

I believe that our bodies are deeply wise and can send powerful intuitive messages, but that when we work to change our size, shape, weight, we can dull and lose that natural intuitive connection

  • Trapped in a sad, lonely world that only feels connecting on the surface, where we are least authentic.

It keeps us trapped in the never ending pursuit of a truth that is not our own - all driven by capitalism and its effort to get us to buy more, instead of BE more.

Diet and wellness culture sells us the promise that some of our problems will be solved if we try this diet, or incorporate this wellness hack.

So, we do. And perhaps feel better temporarily, but end up more miserable than we did before when the thing didn’t work for us in the long term.

The worst part about diet culture is its ability to prey on our worth. In essence, diet culture tells us that we are not worthy of love as we presently are.
