Eating Disorder and Trauma Therapy Near Jamison, PA
Maybe meals come with rules, negotiating, and a running commentary in your head. Maybe certain foods feel scary for reasons that are hard to explain, or food and body thoughts take up so much room there's not much left for anything else.
Or maybe it's your kid, your partner, or your sister, and you're trying so hard to help without making it worse.
For a lot of the people we work with, food got complicated in a home where feelings were either too big or never welcome. Controlling what you ate, or turning to food when nobody else showed up, made a lot of sense back then. It just isn't working for you anymore.
Reclaim Therapy offers specialized eating disorder and trauma therapy for people from Jamison, Warwick Township, and the surrounding parts of Bucks County. We see adults and teens in person at our Horsham office and online throughout Pennsylvania.
When food feels complicated, "just eat" is not a treatment plan.
Eating disorders affect your health, your relationships, your focus, and your ability to trust yourself. They're not fixed by more discipline, a stricter meal plan, or getting scared into change. (If fear were a treatment, you'd have been done a long time ago, and that's not a knock on you.)
Eating Struggles Deserve Specialized Care, Not More Willpower
Our clinicians work with:
anorexia and restrictive eating
bulimia and binge and purge cycles
ARFID, including sensory-based and fear-based food avoidance
chronic dieting and rigid food rules
body shame and painful body image
We're weight-inclusive, fat-positive, and non-diet. Intentional weight loss is never the goal of treatment here, and every body that walks through our door is treated with dignity.
Not every eating disorder comes from trauma. But bullying, weight stigma, medical trauma, attachment wounds, and years of feeling unseen can all get tangled up with food, control, and safety.
When that's part of your story, it helps to work with someone who understands both. Treatment may include EMDR for eating disorders, somatic therapy, parts work, CBT-AR for ARFID, and, with your permission, coordination with your dietitian or doctor.
We also won't use trauma work as a way to put off the concrete parts of recovery. Sometimes healing me
ans processing what happened. Sometimes it means eating the meal, sitting with the discomfort, and trying the new food.
Usually it means both.

Who You'll Be Working With
Reclaim Therapy was founded by Sarah Herstich, LCSW, who spent years treating eating disorders before realizing behavior-focused care alone wasn't enough, and built a trauma-informed practice to treat them at the root. Sarah is a Certified EMDR Therapist, EMDRIA-Approved Consultant, and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner who also hosts The Complex Trauma Podcast.
Our team's work has been featured in TIME, HuffPost, Forbes, Business Insider, and Headspace.
Every one of our nine therapists specializes in trauma, and the team brings additional training in EMDR, parts work, the Safe and Sound Protocol, and CBT-AR for ARFID.

Questions People From Jamison Ask Us
Do I need an eating disorder diagnosis before I reach out?
No, and you don't have to prove it's "bad enough" either. If food or your body is taking up more space than you want it to, that's reason enough to talk. Your free consultation is where we figure out what's going on together.
Do you treat ARFID?
Yes. We provide specialized ARFID treatment, which may include CBT-AR, somatic work, parts work, and coordination with the rest of the treatment team. ARFID is about much more than being a picky eater, and we take it seriously.
How do I know if outpatient therapy is enough?
Outpatient therapy isn't the right level of care for everyone at every moment. During your consultation, we'll ask some questions about your health and support system, and if more support is needed, we'll help you find it.
You're Not Too Much to Help
You're not too difficult, too picky, too sensitive, or too far into this. We'll meet you with curiosity, honesty, and a lot of respect for the ways you've learned to cope.
