Eating Disorder and Trauma Therapy Near Warrington, PA
Maybe you've seen a therapist who was great with trauma but got uncomfortable when food came up. Or an eating disorder specialist who focused on meal plans while the reasons underneath went untouched. Either way, you ended up explaining one half of yourself while the other half sat in the waiting room.
For a lot of people, food has been a way to numb, soothe, control, or feel a little more predictable. Body shame often traces back to criticism, bullying, medical experiences, or years of hearing that your body needed to change.
If you're a parent, there may be another layer to this. You don't want your kids growing up hearing you talk about your body the way you heard the adults around you talk about theirs. Wanting to break that cycle is one of the most common reasons people finally reach out to us.
Reclaim Therapy offers eating disorder and trauma therapy for people from Warrington and nearby Bucks County. Our therapists specialize in EMDR, complex PTSD, somatic therapy, eating disorders, and body image, all from a fat-positive, non-diet place.
You shouldn't have to pick which part of your story gets taken seriously.
Trauma can leave you cut off from your body's signals, constantly on guard, or uneasy about being seen. Over time, food and body behaviors can get woven right into that.
How Trauma Can Change Your Relationship With Your Body
You might recognize yourself in some of this:
restricting, bingeing, purging, or cycling between them
feeling unsafe when you're full, hungry, or visible
not noticing hunger, fullness, or pain until it's intense
treating your body like a project that needs managing
relying on rigid rules to feel in control
understanding the pattern perfectly and still not being able to stop it
That last one is so common, and so frustrating. It doesn't mean you're doing recovery wrong. It usually means the pattern is still doing an important job for your nervous system, and therapy can help find another way to get that job done.
Our clinicians treat eating disorders and trauma as two specialties that deserve real training, not a side interest. Depending on your goals, treatment may include EMDR for eating disorders, somatic therapy, parts work, CBT-AR, attachment-focused therapy, and coordination with your dietitian, doctor, or psychiatrist when that's helpful.
We won't assume every food or body struggle comes from trauma. We also won't jump into trauma processing just because we offer EMDR. Your therapist will help figure out what needs attention first, what support has to be in place, and how to move forward without shame or pressure.
All bodies are treated with dignity here, full stop.
Care That Holds Both at Once
Coming to Our Office From Warrington
We don't have an office in Warrington. Our only office is at 400 Horsham Road, Suite 100, in Horsham, just south of you.
Most Warrington clients come down Route 611 (Easton Road), about it's about 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic.
There’s free parking right outside of our building, and we are easily accessible from the East Entrance of the building (just look for the signs for Reclaim Therapy!).
We also see clients from Chalfont and Doylestown. Evening sessions are available, and online therapy works anywhere in Pennsylvania if that feels more comfortable.
Who You'll Be Working With
Reclaim Therapy was founded by Sarah Herstich, LCSW, who spent years treating eating disorders before realizing behavior-focused care alone wasn't enough, and built a trauma-informed practice to treat them at the root. Our team's work has been featured in TIME, HuffPost, Forbes, Business Insider, and Headspace.

Questions People From Warrington Ask Us
Can one therapist really treat both trauma and an eating disorder?
Often, yes, as long as they're trained in both and the plan fits what you need. Some people also do best with a small team that includes a dietitian, doctor, or psychiatrist. We're happy to coordinate with outside providers when you give us permission.
Will I have to talk about trauma before I'm ready?
No. Some people want to start with food, some with what happened, and most move back and forth. You and your therapist decide that together, and "not yet" is always an acceptable answer.
Can I start online and come in later?
Yes. Warrington residents can start with secure online sessions and move to in-person appointments in Horsham whenever it feels right, depending on clinician availability.
